Its Friday Friday Friday. I love Fridays because its the start of our weekend. The hubs is home, and the relaxing (okay we don’t relax much) begins. In all reality we spend most weeks busy with projects, church events, and family parties. I come from a large family so family parties seem to pop up almost every weekend. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Waking up this morning and thinking about all that is going on in the world right now makes me appreciate the little things in life. And while I want to lock my doors, hide my little guys in my safe arms forever, I know now more than ever how much the world needs love. It breaks my heart to see the hate that is in the world, the brokenness, and the pain. Its a great reminder to never take advantage of what we have but also a great reminder to love on the people around us and constantly show Christ’s unconditional love to all. The world needs it. They desperately need it.
Today I want to share a very special lady. She is the perfect example of showing Christ’s love, even to strangers. I met April a few months ago on Instagram and knew instantly how incredibly sweet and genuine she is. Her kind words and words of affirmation are one of kind and it is a true blessing to know her. Plus her house is superb!!
My Name is April Brock. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 9 years and we’ve been together for 16. We have two precious littles, Bryce is 7 and Belle is 4. I am a stay at home, homeschooling mama. We enjoy being together at home in our little farmhouse, in the beautiful Southeastern Kentucky mountains. We are surrounded with cattle and a pond and creek and lots of room to play. In the summer, we love fishing, picnics, swimming and the drive in movie theater that’s in the next town over. I always have my littles hanging on me and wouldn’t have it any other way. Belle loves to help me decorate and cook.. She never misses an episode of Fixer Upper with mama.
My hubby is always helping with my DIY projects. This spring we added shiplap to a few rooms to add character and it’s probably my favorite DIY of all time. I just love what it did for our home and I can’t wait to add more!.. I found this old chippy and rusty bedframe out junkin’ one day and my hubs made it into a bench for our entryway. He also made our rustic coffee table out of some salvaged pallet wood we got for free and installed our Ikea farmhouse sink into our existing cabinets.
I love farmhouse style on a budget. I like yardsales and flea markets and junk stores.I am a mama’s girl. She’s my best friend and I love that she instilled in me a love for all things junky and old, and that something doesn’t have to cost a lot to make it beautiful or special. Some of my favorite things in our home have been junkin’ finds. Like our barnwood kitchen table that I found for $20. All it needed was a good coat of white paint.
And the old crate that I found at a flea market for $8 that I later learned was marked with my mama’s birth town and state (which is not even in Kentucky). I knew it was meant for me to find it and take it home. It sits on my counter now, with my great mamaw’s cookie jar inside.
I love to decorate with whites and neutrals. This summer, I’ve loved throwing blues and greenery into the mix too and I am loving grainsack stripes.
Sometimes I will pick up something to move around when I decorate and find a match box car or a my little pony tucked away inside an olive bucket or a tray and I can’t help but smile.. Our home is definitely lived in and cozy and we love it that way.
We love to sit outside on the porch with a glass of sweet tea and watch the kids swim and play. Summer is definitely our favorite!
