My kiddos are loving Christmas this year, but waiting can be a hard for a 3 & 4 Year old. They ask at least once a day “When is Christmas Mom?” They know its coming because the tree is up and we are listening to the music.. not to mention that toy adds everywhere!! One of the best things we did this year was introduce the Christmas Advent Calendar. It’s a perfect way to prepare for Christmas, squeeze all of those Christmas traditions in, and when they ask when Christmas is for the umpteenth time, I just point them to the calendar. Win Win.
And for this project, I joined a couple of my favorite Bloggers for to bring you 14 holiday DIY’s you are going to love. Plus, we are hosting an awesome gift card giveaway to Amazon! a Rafflecopter giveaway

I’ve been wanting to make an Advent Calendar for years and so excited I finally motivated myself to do it! And, I made this Calendar for us to be able to enjoy and change up through the years.
Here are the supplies you will need.
- Plywood (I used a 24″x48″ board)
- Black Rustoluem Chalkboard Paint – You can purchase it here
- 25 Mini craft sacks- You can purchase those here or at your local Hobby Lobby
- Clothes Pins. You can buy those here.
- Black Marker
- White chalk or chalkboard marker. You can purchase a chalkboard marker here.
- Hot Glue Gun
Step One:
Paint plywood black. I would paint 2-3 coats and let it sit overnight to settle.
Step Two:
Write the numbers 1-25 on your mini craft sacks.
Step Three:
Set out your craft sacks in order to lay out the way you want your advent calendar to look. Add clothes pin to the top of each craft sack.
Step Four:
Glue your craft sacks to your board using your Hot Glue gun.
Step Five:
Download my 25 days of Christmas sheet and cut them into small strips. Fill each calendar date with an event, or write your own and put in each sack.
Step Six:
Use your chalkboard marker to add faux string and add “Merry Christmas” or your own special message to the top of the board.
Step Seven:
On December 1st, let your kids begin taking one “secret message” out of each sack and enjoy the holiday traditions and activities.
Let the Holidays begin!
