When it comes to looking for the best bathroom vanity options, keep in mind that there are so many different styles and ways to create a vanity. Most of you know we did our bathroom renovation with Habitat For Humanity of Orange County Restore. So everything we purchased was second hand, or donated to their store. We went into our bathroom project with very little expectation. We wanted to keep an open mind about finding a vanity. I think this is key when thrifting or buying second hand.
This is the best way to shop for your new vanity!
Know Your Style
What style are you going for? Are you wanting something rustic? Modern? Farmhouse? After you know your style, you can narrow your search. We knew we were searching for a Modern vanity. So when looking at Habitat for Humanity of Orange County Restore, I was looking for new vanities, or old dressers with good bones, and some kind of sink that had squared edges. Anything round is a little less modern. I knew that I could add hardware and fixtures to a new vanity to modernize it. This is the Faucet we found. These are the hardware we got. I knew it we found an old dresser (real wood is always preferable), we could paint or sand to create a modern look as well.
Get Inspiration and Ideas
Once you know your style, start your research! Pin specifics! Create a board designated for vanities alone. Instead of looking at the big picture of a bathroom, search “Modern vanities for bathrooms, or “farmhouse style bathroom vanities”, and so on. You want to get specific in the search. Pin everything and anything you like. Go back to the board after pinning and look common interests. Did you like a specific kind of vanity? Above surface sinks? Gold hardware? Notice specifics.
Head to Habitat for Humanity Restore
Once you have an idea of what you are looking for, start your search. Head to your local Habitat For Humanity Restore and find your piece. They have the best bathroom vanity options out there! Remember going in with expectation or specifics usually ends with disappointment. Stick with your ideas, but allow yourself to see potential in items. Try and see past the exterior. When I found our vanity I knew a couple things. I loved the white paint, The white TOP was modern and clean, and it was around the size I was looking for. It was a little taller than I was hoping for, and the hardware and faucet was silver, which I wasn’t a big fan of. I simply purchased a new faucet, and new hardware, and it completely changed the look.
Remember, paint, hardware, and new faucets can completely change the look of a vanity!! These are easy ways to get the exact look you like at a cheaper price! You can check out my Bathroom Remodel post for all of our sources.
