I feel like I cram so many DIY projects into the Christmas season, with gifts and events, I hardly ever get to do DIY my own holiday decor. This year I went with a very simple Christmas palette and theme, and was so excited to try out these ornaments. These DIY ornaments were cost effective, fun for our whole family, and they were perfect for our tree.
Here is what you’ll need.
1/2 Cup of Water
1 Cup of Flour
1/2 Cup Salt
White Acrylic Paint – I used 1 cup but you could alter the amount depending on how bright white you want them.
Directions
Mix salt & flour together. Set this aside.
Mix water and acrylic paint together.
Add Water mixture to the flour and salt mix and knead together to form dough.
Roll dough out sprinkling extra flour if too sticky.
Use cookie cutters to cut your shapes.
Bake 200 degrees for 2-3 hours. Continue to check them. Once they achieve a hard texture, you can take them out of the oven and let them continue to harden on rack. You don’t want to leave them in the oven too long or they may turn a brown color.
After ornaments cooled, I painted the front using acrylic paint and added bakers twine to the back with a hot glue gun. You can also puncture small holes prior to baking.
I hope you enjoy your ornaments. Don’t forget to tag me in your projects!
