I just got my Cameo a month ago or so, and just in time for the holidays. I am already busy planning Christmas decor and the endless gifts I can make using my machine!
As I start my learning process, I have been watching endless Youtube videos on making different things. If you are intimidated by machines like this, know that there are so many resources to help you learn how to make just about anything using your Cameo.
To start off, I decided to make this simple entryway Christmas Sign. I am obsessed with the Christmas Villages this year and was so excited that I found this download in the Silhouette store.
Here is how to make one for yourself.
First, Stain, paint or buy a piece of wood.
For this sign, I was working with a 11″ x 29 ” Sign.
To design and cut my stencil, I first set the size for my Cameo. As you can see, I set my mat size to 24″x 12″.
Then I searched the Silhouette Design Store for their Christmas images and downloaded this cute Christmas Village image. This is the one I downloaded for my sign, so it was in my library ready to use for this project.
After you download the image you can click the corners and resize your image to fit your sign size. For my particular sign, I resized mine to 5.172″ x 21.009″.
Now you are ready to load your mat and send your image to the Cameo. Click the “Send” button. When you come to the screen above, make sure you have the correct material chosen. Since we are using the Matte Vinyl, I chose Vinyl, Matte option. Now you are ready to send to Queue.
If your Cameo is set on Auto Blade, your machine should auto adjust to cut the correct material. After your vinyl is cut, you can use your hook to fish out the cutouts. Use Cameo transfer paper to attach the vinyl and transfer to wood sign.
Using Black acrylic paint, fill in the stencil. Mine took three coats to finish. And wah-lah you have the sweetest little Christmas Village Sign.
Happy DIYing!! If you have any questions about this projects or make one of your own, you can find me on Instagram.
